Since their invention, they have become almost legendary: the Roman and Germanic Days and the Easter Festival of Lights at the site of the Varus Battle. Each event, which is held every two years alternating with the other, is a highlight providing fascinating and unusual insights into the world of 2,000 years ago.
In odd years, the Roman and Germanic Days take visitors on a journey through time into the world of antiquity: On the Pentecost weekend, hundreds of »Romans« and »Germanic people« peacefully set up their tents in the museum’s park. Their camps are buzzing with activity, and numerous performances bring the past back to life. In even years, an imposing fireworks and light show turns the museum’s park into a magical place on Easter Sunday. The Easter Festival of Lights illuminates the sky over Kalkriese in all colors of the light.
Additionally, family Sundays, action days, lectures, special guided tours and special offers for young and old attract visitors to Kalkriese. You can find an up-to-date overview in our calendar of events.
