Marbod
At the time of the Varus Battle, Marbod was the sovereign and military leader of the Germanic Marcomanni.
After the Varus Battle, Arminius obviously attempted to convince him to join his alliance. He sent him the head of the Roman governor Varus. Marbod however did not seem to have reacted accordingly to Arminius’ invitation. In fact, he sent the Roman General’s head on to the Emperor Augustus. He felt obliged to adhere to the peace agreement which he had recently concluded with Tiberius.
