The Visitor Center
On the occasion of the »2,000 Years Varus Battle« anniversary, a new visitor center opened its doors to museum visitors in 2009. It was built on a surface area of about 860 square meters near the current entrance area of Museum und Park Kalkriese. The architectural design was developed by Swiss architects Annette Gigon and Mike Guyer.
The top floor offers enough space for special exhibitions. In the exhibition-free time, event managers will find an attractive and technically fully equipped variety of rooms for many purposes here.
The ground floor features additional separated areas that can be used in numerous ways for events, seminars and conferences. The cashier’s desk and a museum shop with comprehensive stock ranging from small souvenirs to scientific publications are likewise located here. In this spacious and bright environment you can discover – maybe while having a cup of coffee – what today’s world knows and thinks about the period of the Varus Battle.
