Marking the course of the rampart
The metal poles, so-called »stelae«, visualise the verified course of the rampart hidden in the ground. By the choice of their shape, they form a borderline between the almost impenetrable forest on one side and the open accessible plain on the other side.
At the same time, they mark the progress of the excavations made here. Already excavated areas are indicated with stelae standing close side by side. Areas which were analysed by drilling investigations are indicated by stelae standing at slightly larger intervals.
The row of stelae is interrupted by the landscape intersection in which one part of the rampart has been rebuilt.
